If you’re looking to add upscale European flair to your Long Island patio, porcelain tiles could be the answer! Offering unlimited fade-proof designs, porcelain offers all the benefits of concrete pavers with additional heat, water, and freeze-thaw protection. Porcelain tiles make beautiful patios, pool surrounds, walkways, and more.
While there are several ways to install porcelain, in this video, MSI shows us the traditional way to install their Arterra porcelain tiles—sand set over compacted roadbase or gravel. For this project, you’ll need the tiles, plastic spacers that space the pavers a minimum of 1/8”, a wet saw with a diamond blade, geotextile fabric, edge restrainer or concrete for the edge, polymeric sand, and tools for excavating, compaction, and screeding.
